Is used print shop equipment worth it?
Used screen printing, embroidery and DTF equipment is often the fastest way to add capacity for less money, provided you can confirm three things before you pay: it runs under load, the parts that wear out are still available, and someone local can support it. A well-maintained press, dryer or embroidery machine can produce for years; the risk is in the items you cannot see, like heating elements, motors, printheads and hook timing.

What to check on used equipment, by process
The parts that decide whether a used machine is a bargain are the ones that wear. Here is where to look first.
Presses
Registration and platen stability decide print quality.
- Check
- Play in print heads and indexer; platen level; micro-registration travel; pneumatics and air leaks on automatics
- Ask
- Head count, max print size, air compressor requirement
Conveyor dryers & flash units
Under-cured plastisol cracks and washes out, so heat is everything.
- Check
- Even temperature across the belt with a heat gun or temp strips; belt tracking and wear; heating element condition
- Ask
- Voltage and phase, belt width, tunnel length
Exposure & screen room
Light source and vacuum decide how sharp stencils come out.

- Lamp or LED output and age; vacuum blanket for tears and full draw-down; timer function
